From time to time, we stumble across things that we just need to have in our lives. Whether that's those badass shoes, or that to die for bag we just need to get our hands on. Although the weather is cold, and the days are getting dark early, we decided to look ahead to SS17 and explore how 80's style will be a key trend next summer, and the collections we absolutely NEED because of it.

Elie Saab

Elie Saab's designs blew us away, as the glitz and glam made us want to sashay our way down to a party. It's very clear that Saab had an 80's disco in mind whilst designing the collection, as we saw glitter, star prints, flares, fringe dresses and tassels flow down the runway. We could SO imagine wearing some of these glitzy pieces on a night out.

YSL

Now... lets talk about YSL. Anthony Vaccarello who recently took over the role of Creative Director presented his first collection during SS17 fashion week in Paris. The show was held at a former derelict military headquarters, which has now been taken over by YSL as their new HQ. The collection also served all the disco vibes like Elie Saab, with golds, leathers and velvet. There were plunging necklines, structured shoulders and even nip-slip dresses. We absolutely love the black court shoes which have the YSL logo as the heel. Lets just say, Vaccarello pays attention to detail.

Kenzo

There's no doubt Kenzo has been busy, as his collaboration with H&M launched at the beginning of the month. Kenzo served us real utilitarian vibes in his SS17 ready-to-wear show, with structured shoulders, camo, denim and leather. Although the key aesthetic was utilitarian, it's clear that Kenzo was also inspired by 80's glamour with appearances of silk, large sequins, oversized earrings and metallics. Come summer, we need this collection in our lives. The oversized t-shirts were a fave, along with the sequin bralet which was layered over a flamboyant illustrated white shirt.

Balmain

As usual, Olivier Rousteing brought military meets elegant down the runway, but this collection had more of a colonial feel. The catwalk was khaki and there were plants and trees which encroached onto the runway as the models worked their magic. As usual, Rousteing used a range of different textures and fabrics - from suede, to silk and snakeskin. Rich Earth tones dominated the theme, with flashes of golds and silvers. The final looks included gold, silver and bronze striped sequin dresses that blew us all away, and embodied real 80's flashiness.

Lets just say that SS17 will be glitzy, flamboyant and most definitely a fashion season to remember. What are your favourite SS17 collections?
